The Hikers: The Story

On the 15th of June 2021, Alex Thomas Crawford and Cameron Rankin decided to create a band. While sat in Alex’s home, they began to suggest names until finally, Alex suggested one that they both agreed on. Together, they became The Hikers.

Alex, a musician who had played solo for a long while, and Cameron, a former actor with a passion for singing decided that in order to play music they would both enjoy singing, it had to be Folk Music.

​

Being Scottish, they decided to play a number of Scottish songs, and recorded Flower Of Scotland as their first song. They soon released it to Spotify and have since had over 200 listens on the track on all platforms.

On the 30th of April 2022, The Hikers performed their first ever concert together, Live At ONE Church Scotland in Coatbridge. The concert was incredibly successful, with The Hikers receiving huge praise for their efforts in which they raised over £900 for the Schiehallion Ward within the Glasgow Children's Hospital.

Both members are always looking towards the future, and hope to make more music, and inspire a new generation of Folk Musicians.
